Alex Schofield is a native Oakland-based designer committed to sustainable design and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the creation of a more responsible, responsive built environment. With a focus on emerging technologies and material research, he leverages his unique education and experiences to develop circular and regenerative strategies that promote a smarter, more ecologically conscious built environment.

  • Completed M.Arch at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving the Mario Ciampi Art in Architecture Award for his parafictional exploration in fabrication, agency, and form of an architecture built from coffee grounds

  • Worked as a researcher at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design, contributing to the development of the printFARM and various 3D printed material methods and materials

  • Worked for innovative materials and technology-based design firm Emerging Objects, and environmentally focused Hyphae Design Laboratory

  • Completed residencies at Autodesk Pier 9 and Workshop Residence in San Francisco, and has lectured and exhibited his work abroad

  • Director of the design workshop, Objects and Ideograms, focusing on materiality and circular and regenerative strategies
